NICU week 5- sept 13th - sept 19th

sorry everybody-- i am a little behind for obvious reasons!!! we are so excited to have garron home, but my time has been spent tending to the little guy as opposed to posting pics! here is the catch-up for the past weeks... this week was full of eating & growing. garron continued eat from the breast & bottle. he did have to have a few feedings through his tube when he was too sleepy to eat on his own. as the week progressed, these became less & less...

babies born early have many potential complications- one of which is that their retina (part of the eye) is still developing during the end of pregnancy. the oxygen used to aid their breathing can cause this growth process to slow or stop. garron had his eye exam & PASSED!!! another hurdle jumped! he will have to get checked again toward 40 weeks as there is a bit of growth still to occur, but he will not have to have eye surgery. needless to say justin was ELATED!!! when we found out that garron was having to be born early, blindness was the first complication that justin was concerned about. luckily, we do not have to worry about that anymore! another blessing!
