NICU week 6- sept 20th- sept 26th

one big thing that happened this week was that garron got a blood transfusion. this is VERY COMMON for babies born early. because they are drawing blood frequently to check different things, their blood volume decreases over time. they are growing so quickly that their little bodies are not able to keep up with the blood being drawn & the extra blood they need to produce to keep up with the growth. a few days after garron was born, justin went to give blood that was used for the transfusion & that made it seem less scary. i do want to urge everyone that if you are able, PLEASE DONATE BLOOD!!! i always thought of blood being used for an aduly, but it might just help a little guy like garron!

this week garron also reached FOUR POUNDS!!!! because of this, his body had accumulated enough brown fat to maintain his body temperature. this means that he gets out from under his warmer (aka- baby toaster!) & can wear CLOTHES!!!! yay!!! momma was sooo happy! this is his first little outfit. a tiny bug shirt from ben & crystal & green hat from shannon next door!

my baby shower was on saturday of this week. it was a really great time even though garron wasn't there in my belly as i imagined he would be when we set the date months ago! i got to see lots of people that i don't get to see as often as i wish i could, so it was fun to catch up with them. my camera battery died during the shower, so i am waiting to get some more pictures from other people at the shower. here are a few though.
